DescriptionHS Boys Head Tennis Coach & Associate Tennis ProfessionalLocated at the foot of Lookout Mountain in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee, Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) is the area's largest private school, enrolling over 1,400 students in grades PreK-12.
We are looking for a full-time Head Coach for HS Boys Tennis & Associate Tennis Professional. The ideal candidate will:
- Create an environment that allows student athletes to develop to their full potential within a team context and in alignment with the school's mission of preparing students to lead and serve with distinction while representing Christ and His Kingdom in all areas of the home, church, society, and culture
- Be responsible for teaching both private and group tennis lessons for ages three to ninety-three.
HEAD COACH FOR HS BOYS TENNISESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop a culture and program that will foster spiritual, physical, and mental growth, character development, leadership skills, team unity, and healthy competition.
- Attract and develop an assistant coaching staff that supports the program and school's mission.
- Lead a program that is a positive representation of CCS to the greater community and attracts student-athletes and families to come to CCS.
- Schedule organized practices and meetings focused on teaching and developing student athletes in individual, group, and team settings.
- Communicate proactively with student athletes and parents/guardians regarding expectations, practice, and game schedules.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the sport, including rules and regulations.
- Coordinate with Athletic Director and opponent schools for scheduling.
- Provide transportation schedule/needs and coordinate with the athletic department for away competition travel plans.
- Conduct a pre-season parent meeting and end of season banquet.
- May supervise student athletes before and after practice and games.
- Issue equipment and uniforms to student athletes, ensuring all equipment is maintained properly and uniforms are returned at the end of the season.
- Secure team-related apparel/spirit pack items. (Uniforms every three years)
- Attend all games and practices
- As necessary, set up facilities in preparation for practices, games, and events; ensure facilities are clean after practices, games, and events.
- Conduct pre-season conditioning and practices.
- May operate school vehicles and transport student athletes to games/events.
- Work with the sports medicine staff to ensure the safety of all student-athletes and that they have completed the clearance process.
- Cooperate with academic staff and all school personnel.
- Attend monthly head coaches meetings.
- Follow the guidelines set forth in CCS Employee Handbook and Coaches Handbook.
- Ability to manage a budget.
- Work effectively with the Director of Parent Accounts to ensure appropriate student/family billing.
- Other duties as assigned.
ASSOCIATE TENNIS PROFESSIONALEssential Duties / ResponsibilitiesOperations- Assist the Advisory Director of Tennis and Head Tennis Professional
- Use membership software daily to keep accurate attendance and payment records
Teaching / Instructional Program- Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Ensure accurate billing and attendance records of all private lessons, group lessons, events, travel teams, leagues and all other tennis activities
- Assist with the junior tennis program
- Assist with the adult tennis program
- Assist with the adult travel team program
- Assist with the summer camp tennis instruction
- String racquets
- Teach private, group, travel team and other instructional tennis opportunities
Events & Programs- Assist with all social and special tennis events
Travel Teams- Assist with the instruction of the adult travel team program
- Assist members in identifying opportunities for travel team play
- Attend and observe adult travel team play to develop specific lesson plans and instruction
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS- Personal faith in Jesus Christ, a commitment to the mission of Chattanooga Christian School, and agreement with the CCS Statement of Faith
- Involvement with USTA and local/state tennis organizations
- College playing experience preferred at NCAA DIV I, II or III level or NTRP level 4.0
- Three - five years instructional tennis experience
- USPTA Certification and USPTR Certification or pursuit of Professional Certification within first year of employment
- Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential & sensitive student/family matters
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- If required to drive a school vehicle, must have a valid driver's license and meet CCS's MVR guidelines
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Must be able to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays if needed
- A heart to positively influence young athletes
