JOB GOAL:

To structure the learning environment to study the integrated Business Education program outlined by the LRSD Curriculum Guides and Arkansas Department of Workforce Education curriculum frameworks. To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development incorporating a framework clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities. Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical conditioning necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Assist the Head Coach in organizing, coordination and promoting a comprehensive program for basketball team that is designed to meet the needs and interest of the district and community.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is on a (10) month teacher contract (205 days), plus coaching stipend and benefit package. Note: Precise placement on the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. FLSA: Exempt

TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE

Teaching assignment to be determined based on teacher certification area(s).

SPECIAL NOTE:

The successful candidate must have a willingness to participate in on-going professional development summer 2020 and continuing throughout the school year both on and off contract times when requested by the Administration. Appropriate compensation will be given within the compensation guidelines of licensed personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. A Bachelor's degree minimum.
  2. Must have a valid Arkansas teacher's license.
  3. Current certification in CPR and First Aid and AED.
  4. Must meet Arkansas Activities Association requirements for coaches.
  5. Evidence of strong commitment to quality education.
  6. Enhanced knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  7. Knowledge of Arkansas Activities Association (AAA Handbook) rules.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
  9. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. A minimum of three years of experience as a head varsity coach preferred
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   1. Teaches assigned subject area using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, LRSD Curriculum Guides, and other appropriate learning activities.
  2. Planning and Preparation: Plans, prepares, and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences, demonstrating pedagogy, knowledge of students, instructional goals, knowledge of resources, coherent instruction, and assessing student learning.
  3. Classroom Environment: Establishes a culture of learning managing classroom procedure and student behavior, and organizing physical space. Applies appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  4. Instruction: Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved - communicating with students, using questioning and discussion techniques, engaging students in learning, using assessment in instruction, utilizing technology, etc. to study the integrated social studies program outlined by the LRSD Curriculum Guides; guides the learning process toward the achievements of curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; and integrates STEM concepts and inquiry methodologies into units and lessons.
  5. Professional Responsibilities: Develops and adheres to professional responsibilities - reflecting on teaching, maintaining accurate records, communication with families, contributing to the assigned School and the District at large, growing and developing professionally, showing professionalism, using data to inform instruction, etc.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ASSISTANT COACH BASKETBALL
  1. Assists the Head Basketball coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport, organizing the Basketball program at the assigned school for overall success.
  2. Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the Head Basketball coach.
  3. Assesses player's skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head Basketball coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
  4. Assists with determining game strategy, supervising athletes during practices and completion.
  5. Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies. Performs support tasks such as distributing and marinating eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
