Job Title: HR Generalist
Location: Michigan (Multi-Site Role)
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and General Manager
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated HR Manager/Generalist to support our human resources functions across two Michigan locations, focusing on employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance. A key responsibility of this role is managing safety programs and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards, enhancing a safe and supportive workplace culture. This position will report directly to the CFO and General Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Management:
- Administer day-to-day HR functions including employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and retention strategies.
- Support hiring processes: prepare job descriptions, post job openings, screen candidates, and coordinate interview processes.
- Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding processes, ensuring a smooth transition for new employees.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Address and resolve employee issues and grievances in a timely, fair, and consistent manner.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace culture.
Safety and Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and training programs to comply with OSHA and state regulations.
- Perform routine safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk analyses at both locations.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, maintain accurate records, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote safe practices and an injury-free workplace.
Benefits and Compensation Administration:
- Oversee employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Educate employees about benefits offerings, manage enrollment, and resolve related issues.
- Conduct compensation reviews and provide input on salary adjustments and performance-related bonuses.
Training and Development:
- Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills, performance, and safety awareness.
- Conduct compliance training sessions, including topics on workplace safety, harassment prevention, and regulatory standards.
HR Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files and HRIS data.
- Generate and submit reports to management as needed, and assist in audits or regulatory inquiries.
HR Projects and Strategic Initiatives:
- Collaborate with senior leadership on HR-related initiatives, policy updates, and organizational development strategies.
- Assist in implementing HR programs that align with company goals and objectives for both Michigan sites.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HR Generalist, preferably with experience in safety and compliance.
- Knowledge of OSHA and state safety regulations; prior experience managing safety programs is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel regularly between Michigan locations.
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent).
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is beneficial.
Working Conditions: This position requires regular travel between two Michigan locations and may involve occasional evening or weekend work for training or special projects.
