We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. Reporting directly to the Director of HR, this role will play a key part in managing essential HR functions for our school-based operations. The HR Generalist will oversee leaves of absence, onboarding and offboarding, recruitment, and payroll processing to ensure a positive employee experience and compliance with organizational policies.

Description


  • Administer and track employee leaves, including FMLA, parental leave, and other leave policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for new hires, including orientation and paperwork.
  • Coordinate offboarding processes, ensuring timely return of assets and conducting exit interviews.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define staffing needs and create job postings.
  • Source, screen, and coordinate interviews with candidates.
  • Process and ensure accuracy of payroll for school staff.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to address payroll discrepancies or concerns.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist with HR projects and initiatives to support a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Profile


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in an HR generalist role or similar capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and payroll regulations.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and payroll platforms preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong commitment to confidentiality.
