Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director of HR Operations, the HR Client Services Administrator, Student Employment plays a key role in supporting student success at Hofstra University by managing the student employment program. Serving as the primary liaison between students, campus departments, and university partners, this position oversees recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and compliance for all student employment. The Administrator provides guidance to both student employees and supervisors and fosters meaningful employment experiences that support students' academic and professional development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Administers the student employment program, including Federal Work-Study, non-work-study, graduate assistantships, and stipend-based positions.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for student employment inquiries.
  • Partners with departments to develop, post, and promote on-campus job opportunities.
  • Supports students in identifying and applying for employment opportunities that match their skills and career goals.
  • Provides training and resources to supervisors for effective student employee management.
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures to streamline hiring and onboarding processes, including the completion of new hire paperwork and entry of data into the HRIS system.
  • Maintains and updates the student employment website, handbook, and other educational materials.
  • Monitors student eligibility for work-study programs, coordinates community service placements, and tracks award utilization in collaboration with Student Financial Services and Finance.
  • Prepares and analyzes reports related to student employment trends, wages, and program utilization.
  • Promotes the student employment program by attending various events to include open houses and admitted student days.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience, preferably within payroll or HRIS processing.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Comfortable using technology to improve process efficiency.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to support student events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of basic state and federal employment laws preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal work-study policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and fiscal responsibilities.
  • Experience cultivating relationships and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with a broad range of constituencies.
  • Prior experience working with an HRIS, preferably Ellucian Banner.

Salary/Salary Range
$64,350

Hofstra University provides the above salary as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.

Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
