  • The pay rate for this position at hire is $32.98/hr ($68,600.00/yr). Current THA employees transferring into this position are placed in line with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

What You'll Do:

The Housing Specialist helps ensure THA's housing programs run effectively, efficiently, and in compliance, and that THA clients and partners receive high quality service. The Housing Specialist will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
  • Determine eligibility, calculate rent, verify information, perform background checks, prepare contracts, handle leasing or voucher processes, and handle interim and annual re-certifications.
  • Work with other departments to incorporate new PIH notices, CFR changes, and other regulatory updates.
  • Stay proficient in federal housing regulations and programs, and assist with compliance reports.
  • Foster positive connections with community groups, property owners, and potential residents.
  • Collaborate with CSE staff to help families facing eviction or termination, and coordinate services with other providers.
  • Work with team members on assigned tasks, process reports and correspondence related to leasing, recertification, and portability.
  • Complete and maintain waiting lists, issue vouchers, and periodically purge the waiting list. Notify and select applicants based on preferences.
  • Schedule and conduct applicant interviews, assist with form completion, and screen applicants for program eligibility.
  • Mediate issues between property owners, residents, and the agency's programs. Respond to complaints and provide general leasing information.
  • Investigate and develop documentation for all programs, compute property owners' HAP payments, and handle repayment agreements.
  • Perform all duties with integrity, maintain professional relationships, adapt to department changes, and uphold confidentiality.
Who You Are:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years related work experience, program planning and implementation preferably in social services delivery.
  • Fair housing and reasonable accommodation experience.
  • Experience or knowledge of housing choice vouchers or HUD programs and low-income housing; experience interpreting federal rules and regulations.
  • Housing authority or tax credit housing experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Yardi preferred.
  • Housing choice voucher or affordable housing certifications preferred.

Work Arrangement Options

All employees have a 120-day probationary period that starts the 1st day of employment. During this time, employees train, onboard, and perform their work in-person/in-office. Depending on the position and as approved by the manager, employees may have an option to work a hybrid schedule (part remote, part in-person) once they pass probation.
