POSITION SUMMARY
The Housing Specialist position assists the Affordable Housing Supervisor and provides support for all office functions. This position is responsible for supporting the preparation of all materials related to Affordable Housing lotteries, initial candidate screening, applicant wait lists, recertifications, lease renewals, tenant interaction, rent collection, registrations and correspondence. This is an entry level position. Selected candidate will be trained by the company if required, to perform the functions and duties of the position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Prepare and manage communications of all applicable materials required by the Affordable Housing Department.
Perform all duties related to the operations of the office, including answering telephones, directing calls, responding to inquiries, as well as assisting applicants, tenants, and the general public as required.
Support the prospective tenant process including preparation of all necessary interview materials, conducting interviews, and managing waiting lists in accordance with supervising agency requirements.
Prepare each applicant's file for submission to relevant agencies and other required entities. Monitor process through to final review and approval.
Create initial rental and recertification files for all affordable housing tenants.
Perform all duties related to yearly recertification process, including home inspections, preparing, reviewing and following up on verification.
Prepare and follow up on all Affordable Housing renewal leases.
Responsible for preparing and maintaining all new Tenant's initial file and Tenant Income Certification Program (TIC) files for electronic management and submission.
Assist tenants and walk-ins with issues involving accounting, housing subsidies such as SCRIE/DRIE/NYCHA, Section 8, LINC and any other subsidy programs.
Support all functions related to the operations of the office.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Detail-oriented with solid ability to operate on deadline-driven schedules
Excellent analytical, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills. Highly organized and able to work effectively as independently as well as being a strong team member.
Fully computer literate. Competence with MS Office Suite required. Experience with Yardi, BuildingLink a plus.
Bilingual skills helpful
Excellent communications, customer service skills. Competency in face-to-face interactions. Strong written, oral and presentation skills.

Minimum educational requirements: Completed or working toward a Bachelor's degree, or appropriate work experience required.
JOB TYPE Full Time
SALARY $50,000 - $60,000 Annually
