Job Summary The Part-Time Hospitality Institute Non-Credit In-Service Instructor teaches hospitality and job readiness skills, delivers train the trainer workshops and conducts employee training and team building workshops.
Duties & Responsibilities - Teaches lecture and hands-on training sections relating to general hospitality and job readiness subject matter
- Prepares and distributes course outline/syllabi to students and maintains accurate attendance records
- Proctors mid-term exams, completion exams and industry certification exams
- Develops teaching and learning strategies that optimize student performance
- Develops classroom materials and curriculum
- Delivers train the trainer workshops, conducts employee training and team building workshops
- Complies with department and College policies and procedures
- Completes and submits all necessary documentation for grant compliance
- Attends and supports college, industry and community events and activities
- Submits periodic reports to the Hospitality Chairperson
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements - High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and professional experience in academic and/or professional expertise in corresponding field
- All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
- Prior teaching or training experience including train the trainer and employee training
- Knowledge of hospitality industry, hospitality positions, and related software and technology
- Knowledge of job readiness skills such as resumes, interviews and professional attire
- Ability to meet deadlines, work independently, resolve problems and make decisions in accordance with policies and procedures
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point) and specific related software programs in the area of responsibility
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekend assignments
- Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
