We are seeking a dedicated Hospitalist to provide comprehensive inpatient care to our nation's veterans. The Hospitalist will be an integral part of our healthcare team, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves clinical, academic, and potential research responsibilities within a highly respected medical center and teaching environment.

Preferred Experience:

We are looking for internal medicine board certified hospitalists who have a passion for teaching, mentoring trainees since they'll be mainly working on inpatient teaching teams. We are also looking for hospitalists who have interests in quality improvement, commitment to bettering systems issues to improve Veterans' care and access. We have 4 general medicine teaching teams and 1 non-teaching team that the hospitalists all rotate equally through.

Duties/Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient care, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients admitted to the hospital.
  • Manage complex medical conditions and provide evidence-based care, ensuring continuity of care across the treatment spectrum.
  • Work collaboratively with medical staff, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and safety.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case discussions, and team meetings.
  • Supervise and mentor medical residents, interns, and medical students, contributing to their educational development.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and documentation in compliance with VA policies and guidelines.
  • Provide consultative services within the hospital as needed and ensure timely communication with primary care providers.
  • Engage in academic activities, including teaching, lecturing, and potential research and quality improvement opportunities.

Work Schedule: May vary depending on assigned facility needs.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: M ust be Full time with board certification

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
