Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Hospitalist team on a temporary contract basis. This opportunity is perfect for a provider who thrives in a fast-paced inpatient setting and enjoys the autonomy of night shift work. The contract runs from August through November 2024, with a 7 on / 7 off schedule covering night shifts only.
As a Hospitalist PA, you will provide overnight care to adult patients across two facilities: Inland Valley Hospital and Rancho Valley Hospital. You will work independently with physician support as needed, managing admissions, monitoring patient conditions, and responding to acute issues during your shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and formulate evidence-based treatment plans
- Manage a patient census of approximately per night
- Perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications
- Collaborate with hospitalist physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
- Provide education to patients and their families with empathy and clarity
- Accurately document patient encounters and updates in the Cerner EMR system
- Respond to emergent patient issues and handle decompensations or admissions as necessary
Requirements:
- Active Physician Assistant (PA) license in the state of California
- National certification (PA-C)
- 1 2 years of experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR is a plus
- Ability to work independently and confidently during night shifts
- Commitment to the full contract term (August November) and 7 on / 7 off schedule
