We are seeking a skilled Hospitalist Physician Assistant for an 84-day locum tenens assignment at a Hospital in Illinois, starting 05/20/2025. The ideal candidate will work night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM on a 7-on/7-off schedule. This role involves hospital rounding, with ICU rounding experience preferred but not required. The PA will work alongside a physician hospitalist, providing comprehensive inpatient care. Responsibilities include conducting medical clearances and medication reconciliation for patients in the behavioral health unit, excluding psychiatric medications. The provider will use the Epic system for patient management. This opportunity offers a chance to work in a diverse hospital setting with potential for extension.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Perform hospital rounds and manage inpatient care

Conduct ICU rounds as needed

Work collaboratively with physician hospitalists

Provide medical clearances for behavioral health unit patients

Perform medication reconciliation, excluding psychiatric medications

Manage acute medical issues for all hospital patients

Utilize Epic system for patient management and record-keeping

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members

Ensure smooth transitions of care and timely discharges

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team

Stay updated on the latest developments in hospital medicine

Adhere to hospital policies and best practices in patient care


Additional Information:

Active Illinois PA license required

Hospitalist experience required, ICU experience preferred

Familiarity with Epic EMR system a plus

Strong clinical skills in managing complex inpatient cases

Excellent communication skills for patient and team interactions

Ability to work independently during night shifts
