West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine seeks a hospitalist for a full-time faculty hospitalist positions (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in the primary locations of Morgantown, WV and Fairmont, WV. Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Internal Medicine / Hospitalist Medicine. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed an Internal Medicine residency program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in Internal Medicine. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
This position is on our inpatient hospitalist service, with the expectation of 26 weeks annually of clinical duties. The night coverage is primarily admissions with cross coverage responsibilities. We are a growing academic hospitalist section that affords the faculty member teaching opportunities of residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers in both a one-on-one setting, as well rounding teams covering inpatient consults for the Department of Medicine. We are a large tertiary care center that has extensive consultation support and cross department/section collaboration for those faculty members interested in subspecialty fellowship training. In addition, our section has numerous specialty service lines that offer an opportunity for providers to manage a wide variety of patients including cardiovascular, oncology, end stage renal disease, long-term antibiotic infusion, geriatric fracture service, complicated infectious disease, and post-acute care patients.
