$10,000 Leadership Bonus paid out over the first year Eden Hospice is hiring an RN Director of Nursing / Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS) to serve as an expert resource for the agency, providing leadership and guidance to the clinical supervisors overseeing the multidisciplinary teams within Hospice and providing direct patient care throughout Southeastern Idaho. Responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and directing patient care services in accordance with federal and state regulations, accrediting bodies, and recognized standards of care. 2. Implements policies and procedures; goals and objectives; and standards of care relevant to patient services and staff functions. 3. Maintains staffing levels as needed to provide patient care to meet changing demands in patient acuity and admission volumes. Ensures schedules provide proper coverage for patient care needs. 4. Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. 5. Directs and supports the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities, including evaluation, planning, and implementation. 6. Assists in preparing and meeting financial targets set by the Agency's annual budget. Contributes to the ongoing budget management and gathering of financial data in conjunction with the Executive Director. 7. Aids in the Agency's goal of retaining quality staff by appropriately hiring, orienting, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff within established policy. Assists in the development and implementation of orientation and ongoing training programs provided for Agency staff. 8. Maintains a working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements for home care reimbursement. Possesses understanding of applicable state and federal regulations as applicable to home care and communicates updates to staff. 9. Works closely and communicates with Executive Director to ensure highest quality of care to patients, efficient operations, business development, and financial stewardship. 10. Communicates and coordinates with physician's offices, payers, patients/families, outpatient services and inpatient coordinators, community resources and agencies. Promotes home care services and coordinates care across the continuum. 11. Maintains up-to-date clinical knowledge of methods, products, trends, research, etc., and communicates this information to staff. 12. Working with Executive Director, supports and facilitates implementation of existing or changes to Agency's policies, regulations, process, or procedures. 13. Consults with VSO and internal/external stakeholders as needed when developing solutions or addressing issues. 14. Working with Executive Director, sets strategic and operational goals for branch. Assists in gathering data and developing and implementing action plans to respond to trends in metrics. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1. Understands regulations/standards applicable to Hospice. 2. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the functions of a Hospice Agency. 3. Demonstrates knowledge of the dying patient and pain control measures. 4. Exhibits genuine interest in and compassion for patients and families dealing with end-of-life issues. 5. Understands hospice philosophy and issues of death and dying. 6. Ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations 7. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 8. Excellent interpersonal skills. 9. Excellent writing and presentation skills. 10. Knowledge of general modalities and scope of practice within the state of Agency operation. 11. Candidate should be self-directed and can work in the field with minimum supervision. 12. A valid driver's license, reliable auto, and current auto insurance. 13. Basic computer knowledge. 14. Ability to plan, coordinate, direct and supervise the health services of the Agency in compliance with federal and state regulations and accrediting bodies. 15. Competency in nursing theory, techniques and practice, with a particular emphasis in community health. 16. Possesses understanding of the HIS data collection and reporting process. 17. Develops goals, priorities, programs with contemporary knowledge of patient-centered care, value-based care and the continuum of care. 18. Committed to continuous improvement, clinical excellence, high-degree of patient and staff satisfaction. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. Must be a Registered Nurse to qualify for this position. 2. Extensive history in Hospice preferred, but strong leadership experience is a must. 3. Three (3) years nursing experience. Experience in community health, home health, or hospice services in the past five (5) years preferred 4. At least one (1) year supervisory and administrative experience. 5. Current license from the state Board of Registered Nursing. 6. Current CPR.
