Job Summary: This recruitment is open at the Hospice RN I and Hospice RN II levels, and will be filled at the appropriate level for the successful candidate. A Hospice RN administers skilled nursing care to patients on an intermittent basis in their place of residence. This is performed in accordance with physician orders and plans of care under the direction and supervision of the Hospice Manager. The Hospice RN I: ($37.58- $50.11 per hour) independently plans and implements routine nursing care in predictable situations using standards and knowledge obtained during education and preceptorship. The Hospice RN I begins to assume leadership responsibility and works under general supervision. The Hospice RN II: ($44.72- $52.61 per hour) is an advanced level nurse who renders individualized comprehensive nursing care to meet the patient's physical, psychological, spiritual, social, cultural, and educational needs. The Hospice RN II provides the best possible preventative, supportive, and rehabilitative nursing care to each patient based upon the nursing process and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Hospice Care is an excellent opportunity to provide much needed care in our community. Care through the Hospice department is delivered directly in the homes of the patients we serve, working with both the patients themselves and their support networks. This is the ideal setting for caring and compassionate staff who are motivated by independent work in a variety of settings and levels of care. Minimum Qualifications for the Job: Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program. BSN preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire. Valid driver's license, current auto liability insurance and reliable transportation is required at time of hire. Experience: RN I: A minimum of one (1) year of continuous experience in a comparable patient care setting, hospice experience preferred. RN II: A minimum of three (3) years of current experience in a comparable patient care setting, or one (1) year of experience as a Bartlett RN. Hospice experience preferred. Please note: In lieu of fringe benefits, casual employees receive a $2 an hour casual differential in addition to their hourly base rate of pay . Casual employees will not be scheduled to work a full time schedule for more than four (4) consecutive months or more than 780 hours annually. Casual employees must work a minimum of one (1) shift within a 90 day period to maintain status and employment. Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms. Practice Notices: All new employees are required to produce negative drug screen prior to start of employment.
