Horticulture Volunteer Program Intern

JOB SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator Intern for Horticulture Projects will support the Conservancy in managing volunteer engagement for park horticulture and landscaping initiatives. The intern will assist with planning and implementing plantings, maintenance, and conservation efforts, while fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive volunteer experience.

REQUIREMENTS

• Currently pursuing a degree in horticulture, environmental studies, or a related field.

• Passion for horticulture, plant care, and environmental sustainability.

• Ability to effectively communicate with and lead diverse groups of volunteers, staff, and community members in a positive and engaging manner.

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Comfortable participating in hands-on gardening and outdoor activities in various weather conditions, including planting, weeding, and general park maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in development and implementation of strategic plans for volunteer event opportunities, recruitment, engagement, and retention aligned with organizational goals.

• Assist in design and enhancement of volunteer management policies, procedures, and resources to support efficient program operation.

• Cultivate strong relationships with volunteers, staff, community partners, and sponsors to support program goals and participant outcomes.

• Collaborate across departments to integrate volunteer efforts with organizational initiatives and events
