The Clinical Staff Educator (CSE) is a professional nurse who will provide education to promote excellence and innovation in the delivery of patient centered care. This position implements and participates in the clinical performance improvement processes and activities in the designated areas, with a primary focus on Home Health services. The CSE will designs, implement, and analyze performance improvement/quality studies to enhance clinical practice, maintain accreditation, meet regulatory requirements and improve clinical processes.
Primary Responsibilities: - Creates, implements and evaluates education, Agency specific orientation, special projects and quality programs
- Implements and leads staff development activities
- Performs regular educational needs assessments and develops appropriate training programs
- Acts as a clinical resource to staff
- Provides input on staff performance evaluations and assists with remediation needs
- Performs home health visits with new hires, students, and staff in need of skills remediation
- Participates on/leads committees, policy and procedure development, facility audits, special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned
- Supports the Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program and Patient Safety Program
- Leads and develops programs including new hire orientation, initial and annual competency program, Course development, and identified performance improvement needs
- Develops/supports educational programs for nursing staff
- Seeks and obtains training and certification from outside providers for targeted learning opportunities
- Develop and coordinate preceptorship program for new hires and students
- Connects and/or develops CEU program plans for RN/LPN/HHA
- Primary office environment, however, will participate in on-call rotation for weekend, night, and holiday coverage through an administrator on-call capacity
- Leads infection prevention and control activities
- Monitors quality of patient care, in the home environment, utilizing the nursing process
- Develops policies and procedures that meet regulatory agency compliance and standards of care
- Serves as a knowledgeable and available resource for infection prevention/employee health for colleagues, staff, surveyors and other regulators
- Develops or assists in developing goals of department, goals of direct reports, and recommends/administers Agency/department policies and procedure
- Participates in the hiring, evaluation, and termination of staff reporting to Education/Operations, proactively monitor staff retention and satisfaction
- Provide guidance and counseling, as directed, to assist in continuous improvement of best practices, processes, and standard workflows
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: - High School diploma and/or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare, nursing or related field
- Active unrestricted RN license in the state of Nevada
- 5+ years clinical nursing experience
- Home healthcare experience
Preferred Qualifications: - Graduate degree in health-related field or education
- Education/clinical training experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- National certification as a nurse educator and/or home health nurse
Knowledge: In collaboration with others, must be able to develop and implement plans for process improvement. Demonstrates ability to lead others and to develop innovative processes for staff development initiatives. Knowledgeable about regulatory requirements such as regulatory/accrediting requirements and OSHA. Principles of adult learning and education.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated skills in performance improvement process, program development, project management, computer technology, database development and management and instruction design. Proficient in field of home health nursing practice and possess independent clinical skills.
Work Environment: Normal office or clinic environment. May occasionally work flexible hours to meet needs of Agency staff.
The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
