Description
Job Summary:
Perform Mohs lab procedures outlined in procedure manual, working in direct contact with Mohs Surgeon.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Completing minimum 10 Mohs cases a day with satisfactory quality.
Overseeing all patient logs and maintaining CLIA requirements, performs technical histology tasks and
procedures to include tissue processing, tissue embedding, microtomy, staining, immunohistochemistry,
accessioning, equipment preventive maintenance, quality control, inventory, supply ordering, data
gathering/reports, slide and block filing/retrieval and other histology related duties.
Ability to troubleshoot stainer, cryostat, and other instruments. Knowledge of reagent use, storage and
safe handling as well as lab standards by OSHA and CLIA.
Requirements:
Experience: No less than 1 year
Performance Requirements: Ability to Gross, Embed, Cut, Hand Stain H&E, Coverslip. Knowledge of IHC staining
for Melanoma
Knowledge: Cytology, microscopy, Stain Protocol, Anatomy, Setting up Mohs lab, Mohs mapping techniques, CLIA
regulations
Skills: Delegation of responsibility, create workflow, Training, Full understanding of Mohs surgical procedure
Abilities: Punctual, flexible hours, equipment maintenance
Equipment Operated: Cryostat, standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers,
telephones, etc.
Education:
High School Diploma required
Advanced degree preferred
Board certified ASCP Histotechnologist certificate preferred
Work Environment:
Medical office, well lit, well ventilated.
Work may be stressful due to continual interaction with others.
Evening Hours
Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally
associated with an Administrators including walking, bending, standing, reaching, and sitting. Ability to lift
20 lbs.
