Your Role as a Special Education Teacher- Provide Classroom Support - Create a positive and engaging learning space where every student feels supported and can thrive.
- Monitor & Track Student Progress - Develop and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student s unique needs. Track and assess student development, making necessary adjustments to ensure continued progress and success.
- Ensure a Safe Learning Environment - Manage challenging behaviors by implementing behavior support plans and using de-escalation techniques and calming strategies to promote a structured and supportive setting.
- Collaborate with Teachers & Families - Work closely with parents, educators, and support staff to ensure consistent, individualized support for each student. Engage in ongoing communication to align strategies and interventions for student success.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor s degree in History, Education or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- 1 to 3 years teaching experience to middle and high school age students.
- Must hold a Connecticut History or Connecticut Special Education 7-12 certification - dual certification in Special Education a plus.
- Strong experience in creating, implementing, and managing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Possesses a collaborative mindset with the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Passion for Special Education through patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students with special needs succeed.
