Job Summary

Welcome to our dynamic Oncology Nursing Unit

Hiring Now for full time night shift, 7pm-7:30am with rotating weekends/holidays

Our 28 bed Oncology Medical and Surgical Inpatient Unit has a population consisting of Gynecology and Urology surgery patients, new oncology diagnosis, medical oncology treatment, end of life and palliative care. The Registered Nurse (RN) on this unit is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. A successful Registered Nurse on this unit must have strong critical thinking skills and be able to provide compassionate care to families and patients in stressful situations and life transitions.

The team-based culture on our Oncology Unit has a dedicated Charge Nurse, Clinical Pharmacist, Oncologist, Case Manager, Oncology Social Worker, Nurse Navigator, and Mobility Technicians to support patients' needs and provides resources for our nursing staff. There are many opportunities for professional growth and education through our collaboration with the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). We provide continued education in Cancer basics, Chemotherapy Administration and provide support for Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN). Our staff includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Hospital Unit Coordinator with a dedicated Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Manager, and Assistant Nurse Manager. Patient Population:
  • Patients with a primary Oncology diagnosis requiring complex nursing care including but not limited to:
    • Supportive Care Interventions
    • Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and Epidural Management
    • Post-Surgical Care: Pain Control, Blood Administration, Wound Care
    • New Diagnosis Support
    • Palliative Care
    • End of Life Transition
Salary Details:

Hourly rate is determined by years of worked experience as an RN, education level, and internal equity within organization. Minimum rate starting at $32.50, max of salary range is $51.00. In addition to hourly rate, if candidate holds an approved certification, position qualifies for certification pay of $1.50.

For new graduate RN candidates who complete a ASN program starting rate is $32.50 and for new graduate RN candidates who complete a BSN program starting rate is $33.50

Required Qualifications

Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045). - Require Cancer Basics Course at manager discretion and by completion date agreed upon by management.
- Require completion of Oncology Nurse Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification by completion date agreed upon by management. - Require Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Certification by completion date agreed upon by management. All certifications are required for all new hires after 2014.
- Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
