Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to join the North Yorkshire and York Eating Disorder Service for children and young people. The post will be based in Orca House, York, but the successful candidate is expected to travel to other parts of the locality based on service needs; travel expenses will be included.
We invite applications from suitably qualified Clinical Psychologists. The successful candidate must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and skilled Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to join our team for 12 months. We want a creative and flexible psychological professional to help improve access to psychological therapies and deliver interventions locally to children and families.
You will be expected to have the skills and experience to undertake direct clinical work with children and families, offer clinical supervision and consultation, contribute to service evaluation, and manage service development and change demands. Candidates should be skilled psychological professionals with excellent interdisciplinary working skills and an interest in contributing to an innovative service.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary: Accountable for own professional practice in delivering highly specialist psychological care to clients with complex mental health conditions, which may include high distress levels and challenging behaviors. To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers, and families. To provide clinical supervision and training to less experienced colleagues within the psychology service and to other multidisciplinary team members. To undertake formal research as part of the role and act as field supervisor to doctorate trainees. To be proactive in service improvement within your area. Person Specification Qualifications
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Postgraduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical, counselling, or forensic psychology, accredited by the BPS
- Postdoctoral training in additional specialized psychological practice areas
- Training in clinical supervision and supervision of doctoral trainees
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Registration with BPS
Experience
- Qualified applied psychologist experience within the designated service, working with diverse client groups across the life course and severity spectrum in various care settings
- Full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator within a multidisciplinary team
- Teaching, training, clinical supervision, and doctoral thesis supervision experience
- Research and development experience
- Experience in quality and service improvement and evaluation
Skills
- Ability to communicate highly complex and sensitive information effectively to diverse audiences
- Creative adaptation of evidence-based interventions for clients with communication difficulties or learning disabilities
- Effective teaching, training, and supervision skills for multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and undertake care coordination/lead roles
- Proficiency in multiagency working and liaising with multiple systems
- Ability to identify and promote support interventions for carers and staff exposed to distressing situations and behaviors
- Use of appropriate clinical governance mechanisms within own work
