POSITION: High School Spanish Teacher DESCRIPTION: Under the direction and supervision of the Principal or designee, the candidate
will plan instruction, teach, differentiate instruction, motivate, inspire, and assess high school
students in Spanish. The candidate will promote a high quality, personalized education program that reflects the Michigan Content Standards for Spanish/Foreign Language.
GOAL: To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with system philosophy, goals, and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Requirements:
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with proper endorsement and subject area OR enrollment in a Michigan-approved alternative route to teacher certification program.
- Demonstrated competence as a teacher in all areas of focus.
- Ability to use technology as an instructional tool in the classroom, as a means of analyzing academic achievement data and as a tool to aid effective communications.
- Excellent verbal and written expression using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Exemplary work habits verified by previous employers.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Desired Requirements:
- Dual/additional certification in another subject area.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach district-approved curriculum in a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students through direct and inquiry-based instruction.
- Use effective classroom management skills to develop positive working relationships with students in a productive learning environment.
- Effectively apply and integrate technology to support meaningful teaching and successful student learning.
- Articulate to students their learning objectives and the reasons for their importance.
- Understands diversity of student learning styles and the need for differentiated learning.
- Provide timely, accurate, constructive, and specific feedback to students regarding their learning.
- Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports and report cards.
- Participate in, and assist with, the development and implementation of student IEP goals/Section 504 accommodations and instruction based on individual student needs.
- Maintains accurate records in a manner consistent with state and federal law and as required by the District.
- Participate in continual professional growth opportunities which are aligned with school and District priorities.
- Work cooperatively and effectively within a department/grade level and participate in District level staff meetings, in-service activities, staff development/special programs, school improvement teams and planning committees as appropriate to the assignment.
RATE OF PAY: Per the Master Agreement
