Description Markon is seeking a High-Performance Computing (HPC) Systems Engineer to support our NGA customer in Springfield, VA. Responsibilities The ideal HPC Systems Engineer will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following tasks: Shape and implement a secure, multi-level high-performance computing (HPC) platform.
Define and document technical requirements for enterprise HPC environments.
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies in support of NGA's mission.
Apply systems engineering principles across the full lifecycle, from concept development to operations.
Address complex data classification challenges and implement multi-level security solutions.
Develop and apply analytics, physics-based models, and data fusion techniques to extract meaningful insights from large, diverse datasets.
Implement cross-domain solutions to ensure secure data access and transfer across classification boundaries.
Collaborate with stakeholders across NRO, SAO, AF SPO offices, and other mission partners to support data-intensive applications such as Space Situational Awareness.
Lead efforts to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO) for HPC systems operating in secure environments. Qualifications Required: Active TS/SCI Clearance required (CI Poly from NGA client preferred)
Master's degree in Computational Mathematics with 18+ years of experience, or a PhD in Computational Mathematics with 10+ years of experience in a related STEM field (engineering, physics, computational chemistry, etc.).
Demonstrated experience managing High Performance Computing (HPC) systems, including securing ATO and implementing HPC solutions for mission-critical environments.
Proven expertise in implementing multi-level security requirements (both physical and cyber) and supporting high-performance astrophysics and AI compute platforms.
Experience integrating and managing data at multiple classification levels within HPC environments.
Strong understanding of data protection frameworks including CONMON, MAC, CAD, ABAC, RBAC, RiBAC, PKI, and SSO.
Demonstrated experience with cross-domain solutions and architecture.
Skilled in developing analytic models and physics-based metrics for data analysis.
Experience building and applying data fusion models to evaluate data confidence from multiple sources.
Previous experience supporting or collaborating with NRO, SAO, or Air Force SPO offices.
Desired: Deep technical expertise in private, controlled cloud solutions with integration into HPC environments.
Familiarity with government security compliance standards and cyber risk management frameworks.
Experience supporting mission-critical environments focused on space-based operations or geospatial intelligence. Salary Range USD $140,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
