St. Ambrose University is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Entry-Level Helpdesk Specialist to join our ITS support team. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals interested in building a career in IT support. The Helpdesk Specialist will be the first point of contact for technical assistance, helping resolve issues related to hardware, software, networking, and university systems. The Information Technology Services (ITS) team supports the university's mission by delivering reliable and secure technology services to faculty, staff, and students.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide first-line support via phone, email, chat, and in person for university users.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to university computers, printers, network connectivity, email, and applications.
- Log, track, and manage incidents and service requests using the ticketing system.
- Assist ITS Work Study students in the daily Helpdesk tasks.
- Escalate complex issues to Tier 2/3 support staff as needed.
- Document support procedures and contribute to the knowledge base.
- Support classroom and lab technology as needed.
Qualifications: - Associate's degree or equivalent coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office, and standard networking concepts.
- Ability to troubleshoot common hardware/software issues.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
- Previous experience in a helpdesk or technical support environment is a plus, but not required.
