Help Desk/System Administrator Onsite Fall Church, VA 5 Days a Week
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Required
Responsibilities Our client is looking for a Help Desk/System Administrator to join their growing team.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows-based systems, including desktops, servers, and network infrastructure
- Manage and maintain Active Directory, including user accounts, security groups, and Group Policy
- Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and security patches across the network
- Monitor system performance and capacity planning for both workstations and servers
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
- Manage and maintain network resources including file shares, printers, and other peripherals
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures
- Provide tier 1 and 2 technical support to end users via phone, email, and in person
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with IT policies
- Participate in technology planning and infrastructure improvements
Requirements - 3+ years of combined systems administration and help desk experience
- Experience with Windows Server administration and Active Directory
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, TCP/IP, and common protocols
- Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, batch scripts)
- Proficiency in Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Understanding of IT security principles and best practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Available for occasional after-hours maintenance and emergency support
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods
Education/Certification Requirements - Bachelor's degree in IT-related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Microsoft certifications (MCSA/MCSE) or CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+) required
