Job Description
Fibertek is seeking a seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technician to support our C5ISR Countermine Division's Humanitarian Demining Research and Development Program Division at Fort Belvoir, VA. The successful candidate will provide critical support to our engineering staff in the design, construction, systems integration, testing, and deployment of mechanical demining systems. This role demands expertise in maintaining and repairing heavy construction and agricultural equipment, diagnosing complex mobile system failures, and performing necessary repairs and modifications in both laboratory and field settings.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist engineering staff with the design, construction, and integration of mechanical demining systems.
- Run, repair, and maintain heavy construction and agricultural equipment.
- Diagnose failures in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, and perform repairs and modifications.
- Provide operational training for global partners and support test activities at domestic and international field test sites.
- Record and analyze test data to produce technical reports.
- Assist Mechanical Engineers with designs, tests, and the manufacture of machinery and other equipment.
- Create sketches, rough layouts, record data, make computations, analyze results, and write reports.
- Prepare layouts and drawings for parts manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Review project instructions and blueprints to determine test specifications and objectives.
- Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components.
- Operate heavy equipment and perform welding and fabrication tasks.
- Conduct mechanical fault diagnosis and fleet maintenance.
- Conduct inventories of spare parts shipments and assist in the loading and securing of equipment for international shipments.
- Complete safety training for shop equipment and obtain operator licenses.
- Maintain a current passport and be willing to travel globally in support of the program.
Job Requirements
Experience and Expertise Required:- 3-5 years of relevant mechanical, automotive repair, equipment maintenance experience.
- Proven experience in running, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction and agricultural equipment.
- Strong ability to diagnose and repair complex mobile systems, including diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation, welding, fabrication, mechanical fault diagnosis, and fleet maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct general wiring and repairs.
- Experience in recording and analyzing test data, producing technical reports, and making recommendations for product or test method changes.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Willingness and ability to learn and adapt new skills.
- Completion of safety training for shop equipment and operator licenses.
- Willingness and ability to travel globally to support demining operations.
- Travel may be required up to 25% both domestic and international.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Preferred Skills:- Technical training and certifications relevant to mechanical systems.
- Prior experience in a similar role supporting demining or other humanitarian efforts.
- ASE Diesel Certification and CDL License.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
- US citizenship is required.
