JOB SUMMARY: The Dougherty County School System is seeking a Healthcare Science Teacher who will be responsible for teaching diagnostic procedures in the field of cardiology, radiology, and pulmonology. While also teaching the theoretical and practical concepts, strategies and techniques associated with non-invasive techniques in cardiology, radiology, and pulmonology that include healthcare science, biotechnology, sports medicine, diagnostic and therapeutic services within the Career, Technical and Agricultural education (CTAE) framework.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a related field required;
- Hold a current professional license in field;
- Two (2) years of occupational experience in the field required;
- Previous teaching experience, preferred;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Knowledge of fundamental principles in the fields of healthcare science, non-invasive technology in healthcare, diagnostic and therapeutic services and employability skill development;
- Knowledge of instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner;
- Ability to use computer based training software;
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations related to the fields of healthcare science, biotechnology, sports medicine, diagnostic and therapeutic services;
- Knowledge of current industry standards in the fields of healthcare science, biotechnology, sports medicine, diagnostic and therapeutic services,
- Ability to differentiate instruction and assess student performance;
- Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in a professional manner;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Teaches students the fundamentals of Healthcare Science including the applications and laboratory techniques commonly used in the industry;
- Instructs students using effective instructional strategies such as research projects, group discussions, cooperative learning, project and problem-based learning;
- Prepares engaging and challenging lessons for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate;
- Attends in-person faculty meetings and professional learning sessions;
- Makes industry connections for the purpose of facilitating real world experiences;
- Assists students as an advisor for CTAE student organizations;
- Effectively communicates with students, parents, and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication;
- Demonstrates prompt, regular attendance;
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Principal.

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
