YWCA of LubbockJob DescriptionHealth & Recreation ManagerAs the Health & Recreation Manager, you will play a crucial role in planning, directing, and implementing health and recreation programs aligned with the YWCA's philosophy, policies, and procedures. This encompasses a comprehensive fitness department with diverse classes, and sports leagues. Additionally, you will help oversee front desk operations, ensuring top-tier customer service for all participants.
Essential Job Responsibilities- Monitor and maintain financially healthy programs, submitting program budgets for approval and ensuring adherence to the budgetary framework.
- Seek new revenue streams through innovative programming, grants, donations, and in-kind gifts, collaborating closely with the Director of Health & Recreation.
- Assist in evaluating and modifying programs and facility services for maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction. This involves reviewing current recreation standards and programs, conducting participant surveys, and preparing post-event/activity/usage reports.
- Help supervise up to approximately 25 employees including fitness instructors, trainers, guest services staff and Kid's Club staff.
- Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of sports equipment, facilities, and front desk operations.
- Monitor facility usage and maintain records on enrollment and attendance, evaluating programming needs effectively.
- Cultivate effective relationships with associates, participants, community groups, administration, and the public.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising instructors, part-time staff, consultants, volunteers, and others essential for program functions.
- Represent the YWCA at health fairs and community events.
- Perform related job duties as required.
Job Qualifications- Learn and support the YWCA mission, vision, and policies to meet the goals of the organization without compromise, serving as a role model for the Lubbock community both in demeanor and in life-style habits.
- College degree preferred in or with an emphasis on recreation, sport and facility management, social sciences, or a similar field.
- At least three (3) years' experience in staff management, fiscal management, and operation of an aquatics, fitness, and/or youth sports program.
- Any appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Very strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days.
- Present self professionally in appearance and mannerism at all times.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours from time to time, including evenings or weekends.
- Willingness to attend and work special events or projects for the YWCA and represent the YWCA in community groups and activities
- Infrequent travel: 0-10 days/year.
- Pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check.
- Ability to relate well with a variety of populations.
