Job Title: Head Varsity Football Coach School: North Middlesex Regional High School Location: 19 Main St, Townsend, MA 01469 Job Type: Fall 2025 Season Job Description: North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Head Varsity Football Coach to lead and develop our student-athletes both on and off the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to education-based athletics, focusing on skill development, leadership, discipline, and teamwork while fostering a culture of academic and athletic excellence. The Head Football Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the football program, including coaching, program development, player mentorship, and collaboration with school administration and the athletic department. The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements and promote a positive, respectful, and competitive environment that prioritizes student-athlete growth and well-being. Key Responsibilities: Program Leadership & Development: Oversee the entire football program, including varsity, JV, and freshman levels. Establish and maintain a positive, disciplined, and competitive culture that supports the personal and athletic growth of all student-athletes. Develop a long-term vision for the football program, ensuring continuity and growth across all levels. Coaching & Athlete Development: Plan and execute effective practices and game strategies to develop players' technical skills, football IQ, and overall athletic performance. Provide individualized support and mentorship to student-athletes, encouraging personal responsibility, leadership, and resilience on and off the field. Implement strength and conditioning programs to enhance athletic performance and injury prevention. Education-Based Athletics: Prioritize academic success by monitoring student-athlete academic performance and encouraging a balance between athletics and schoolwork. Work collaboratively with teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators to ensure student-athletes remain in good academic standing. Game & Practice Preparation: Develop comprehensive practice plans that emphasize skill development, team strategies, and game preparation. Analyze game film to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Lead the team in game-day preparation and execution, ensuring that players are physically and mentally ready for competition. Team Building & Culture: Create a positive and inclusive team environment where all players feel valued, supported, and motivated. Promote character development and leadership skills, teaching student-athletes the value of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Encourage involvement in community service and school-wide activities to strengthen the connection between athletics and the broader school community. Communication & Collaboration: Maintain clear and consistent communication with student-athletes, parents, school administrators, and the athletic department. Engage parents and guardians as partners in the student-athlete experience. Work collaboratively with assistant coaches to ensure program consistency and player development at all levels. Player Safety & Wellness: Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper conditioning, hydration, and injury prevention techniques. Stay updated on concussion protocols, first aid, and emergency response procedures to ensure athlete health and safety. Promote the overall well-being of student-athletes, including mental health awareness, nutrition, and recovery strategies. Program Recruitment & Development: Foster interest in the football program at the middle school and youth levels to build a strong feeder system. Encourage multi-sport participation and athlete development in collaboration with other school sports programs. Compliance with NFHS & MIAA Requirements: Ensure that all coaching certifications and training are up to date, including: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification First Aid & CPR Certification MIAA Coaching Education Program Background Check (CORI/SORI) Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Previous football coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferably as a head or coordinator coach. Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, and player development techniques. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to balance athletic and academic priorities for student-athletes. Commitment to building a positive and competitive team culture. Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements, including: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification First Aid & CPR Certification MIAA Coaching Education Program Background Check (CORI/SORI) Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field. Previous experience as a varsity head coach or coordinator at the high school or collegiate level. Experience working with strength and conditioning programs to improve athlete performance. Proven ability to develop a program from youth through varsity levels. Salary: Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
