Strategic Technology Leadership Engineering & Manufacturing

An established, engineering-led organisation is seeking a Head of Engineering Systems to lead the strategic development and performance of its global engineering systems capability. This is a senior leadership position at the intersection of IT and Engineering, tasked with enabling innovation, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage through the intelligent use of PLM, simulation, and emerging digital technologies.

Reporting into the CIO, you will shape and deliver a vision that aligns engineering systems with product and business strategy playing a critical role in accelerating innovation, reducing complexity, and driving long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver the enterprise roadmap for engineering systems in line with strategic engineering and product goals

  • Cultivate strong relationships with global engineering stakeholders to ensure alignment, adoption, and value delivery

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Engineering Systems team across application support, development, and transformation

  • Manage the lifecycle and evolution of core PLM platforms (with a focus on Siemens Teamcenter and NX)

  • Champion the adoption of advanced technologies such as digital thread, AI, simulation tools, and VR to enable smarter product development

  • Own the engineering systems budget, including licensing, resource planning, and commercial oversight

  • Oversee relationships with strategic technology vendors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality of service

Profile:

  • Significant senior leadership experience within complex, engineering or manufacturing-led environments

  • Deep domain knowledge of PLM systems (ideally Siemens Teamcenter and NX), including implementation, integration, and roadmap development

  • Proven track record of aligning IT and engineering to support innovation, product development, and cost efficiency

  • Working knowledge of simulation and virtual engineering tools (e.g. Simcenter, Altair, NX VR)

  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and third-party relationships

  • Influential and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to engage stakeholders across technical and non-technical domains

This is a unique opportunity to drive digital change at the heart of an engineering organisation and influence how technology supports product innovation at scale.
