This position is open to consideration for applicants who currently reside in the US and will require relocation to the Lockport / Greater Buffalo, NY area. MAHLE offers a comprehensive relocation assistance package in accordance to our Domestic Relocation Policy.

SUMMARY

  • Located in Lockport-NY (USA) at the West New York Technical Center, will be responsible for the E/E Engineers in Europe, Valencia-ES, and in China, Changshu.

  • Lead a Global department of Electric / Electronic Development and System Engineering teams for Electrical AC Compressor product segment.

  • Manager of managers and team members.

  • Responsibility of the department management, maturity, efficiency, deliverables to projects and budget compliance.

  • Strong cooperation with other departments:

    • Indirect report to Head of eCompressor Development

    • Technical coordination by the different Development Engineering areas and their extended teams in other domains

  • Direct responsibility over the XDK.EE functional area.

  • The Head of Electric/Electronic Development defines the specific objectives of the area, and it is in charge of the decision-making process of the area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the Electric / Electronic Development teams for the AC Electrical Compressor product segment (including supplier monitoring) and System Engineering team:

  • Product (Inverter) System Development

  • Product (Inverter) Acquisition

  • Product (Inverter) Supplier Monitoring

  • Product (Inverter) Test Engineers

  • Product (Inverter) Customer and Plant Support

  • Requirement Managers (From & To Internal teams, From & To External - Customer/Suppliers) ensuring proper Design to Quality, Design to Manufacture, Design to Safety and Design to Cost mindset.

  • Organize the department structure and continuous improvement of its maturity

  • Describe/update and align the team Missions, Roles, Interactions of the teams and associated RASIC with other departments

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a frictionless collaboration between them

  • Set department goals and monitor their implementation

  • Describe, harmonize and align the main Processes and Guidelines of the team, and PDP deliverables maturity by gate reviews.

  • Communication of lessons learned between projects and the different Product Development Engineers

  • Ensure fulfilment of XDK and BU4 general rules, processes and tools

  • Structure, follow and report the monitoring of the added value of the team to Key projects

  • Define and align with Management / PM and Product Managers the KPI templates for the specific Domain

  • Apply and organize the report of these KPI for Key projects

  • Ensure successful fulfilment of the domain commitments to ongoing projects

  • Plan (anticipate) and follow the adequacy between workload and resource for the team

  • Resource management in terms of people and equipment

  • Track, and pull/align with PMs the required Resource Requests (Budget) per projects

  • Track Hours recording into the system and follow / report on a regular basis the adequacy with budget

  • Define and update the Resource estimation guidelines for PMs, with clear criteria, aligned with management and PM/Product Managers

  • Define required team setup per project and associated staffing

  • Provide coaching, organize training needs and people development

  • Identify and develop sustainable possibilities for external support (MESI/Brightskies/Subcontractors) or internal reallocation when relevant

  • Manage external suppliers

  • Conduct interviews for new hiring

  • Mentoring and training of the department team members

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Physics, or similar Engineering related discipline is required; Masters degree is preferred

  • 5 or more years of experience directly managing technical teams within the automotive industry is required

  • 10-15 years of advanced technical experience in the following areas is required:

o Automotive electronics development

o Power electronics topologies and hardware design

o Electronics schematics design

o Embedded software development

  • Advacnced technical background in the following areas:

o Prototype assembly and testing is required

o Funtional, Thermal, Electrical and EMC validation is required

o Mechanical design and simulations is required

o Manufacturing processes is required

o Automotive Quality Standards: VDA 6.3 and AIAG normative is required

o Automotive deliverables for PPAP and PSW is required

o Knowledge SPICE processes is required

o Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO26262) is desired

o Knowledge in Cybersecurity is a plus

  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas is required:

o Leading development teams, delegating tasks, coaching and promoting people

o Managing international and remote teams

o Project management and monitoring: Timing, Cost, Risk

o Workload monitoring

o Interacting and negotiating with clients, suppliers and external companies

o Working in a V model development process (ASPICE, CMMI)

o Developing and implementing automotive electronics development processes

o Eustomering requirements analysis and negotiations are met

o System/block diagrams, electronics schematics, e-Layout, mechanical design, 3D models, 2D drawings, Bill Of Materials, automotive validations procedures and normative, validation plans and automotive quality deliverables

o Problem solving through 8D report methodology

o Planning resources, budget and CapEx management

o Projects acquisition and offer preparation

o Participation in customer audits, product portfolio strategy, business plans preparation and experience in reporting to Management

  • Domestic and International travel is required (up to 25%)


Salary: 125,000-175,000
