POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Head of Accounting to join our team. Reporting to the CFO, this person will be a hands-on self-starter who is able to work in a challenging yet rewarding, fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as a strong understanding of accounting and management principles. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define optimal balance of in-house accounting and 3rd party support within first 90 days
- Lead monthly close, external financial audits, and regulatory reporting ensuring all financial information is timely, accurate and in compliance with GAAP
- Ensure detailed accounting documentation is prepared and maintained in support of relevant legal and regulatory requirements
- Oversee domestic and international tax preparation, satisfying obligations for franchise, payroll, sales and business taxes
- Streamline revenue operations, including partnering with CFO & Sales on proper deal structure and recognition
- Optimize spend processes, including ongoing vendor contract review
- Partner with CFO for equity administration
- Prepare multi-week cash forecasts for weekly review with CFO
- Document company policies and procedures to ensure efficient financial controls and workflows
- Drive stronger leverage of Netsuite, including supporting systems or modules
- Evaluate current system deployments for optimization or replacement, if required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- SaaS accounting experience, with expertise in M&A and revenue recognition
- Public accounting experience, and minimum of 7 years leading accounting teams and controls in a fast-paced startup environment
- BA/BS degree in accounting; CPA strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial analysis, and internal control requirements with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
- Strong problem solving, analytical, planning, and communication skills
- Organize, prioritize, and complete several tasks simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office 365; Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, Airbase and Avalara preferred
- Team oriented and collaborative approach with the conviction to "hold the line" and to set the tone on accounting judgments
- Clear, concise, and constructive communicator
Compensation: approx. $180K - $250K + equity, depending on experience
