GENERAL DESCRIPTION King William County Public Schools is in search of a Head JV Volleyball Coach. This individual is responsible for program building - including planning, managing, and directing the JV Volleyball program. Additionally, candidate will review and adhere to VHSL and division policies and procedures, strive to develop the sports program by following established VHSL and divsion guidelines and managing all aspects of the team including strength training, conditioning and practicing. The individual will work collaboratively with the head coach to ensure continued growth of the program, evaluation of student athletes and management of the program budget. The individual will process and submit all required forms on time, monitor and maintain use of facilities and equipment, and complete an annual inventory of all issued equipment. The individual will also be required to closely monitor the academic progress of each athlete. If an instructional vacancy for which a candidate qualifies is available, he or she will be considered to fill the vacancy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Valid Virginia Teacher certification preferred.
- Employment as a teacher in King William preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Previous successful coaching experience in the advertised sport preferred.
- Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and at the same time must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the sport.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To effectively supervise all student participants of the volleyball program consistent with King William County Public Schools Policy, as well as school and athletic policies.
2. To follow all KWCPS School Board policies and Virginia High School League policies.
3. To work closely with the Athletic Director, administration, teachers, and parents to promote a successful program for KWCPS student athletes.
4. To promote opportunities for athletic growth, development and advancement opportunities for student athletes in the program.
5. To promote and assist with scholarship opportunities for potential student candidates at the post-scholastic level.
6. To be responsible for the day to day operations of a high school athletic program.
