Job Description OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:
- This role will develop and implement strategies and tactical plans to enable the team to improve performance across the Corporate Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Function and within EHS programs across the company. This role will also have ownership of the Corporate EHS management system including EHS technical standards.
- Ensures EHS is properly supported in terms of performance objective development, planning, project prioritization, budget planning, financial tracking, and the tracking and delivery of objectives and KPIs. The role interacts cross functionally with Business Excellence teams and Operations Excellence/Continuous Improvement teams.
- Accountable for the development, delivery and implementation of the various enterprise-wide EHS data and digital supporting systems to ensure compliance, reduce risk and manage business performance
- Provides leadership to the Corporate EHS audit program ensuring audit team has adequate resources and oversight to deliver audit program objectives

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develops and oversees operating mechanisms required for effective global EHS Governance (policies, strategy, goals, objectives, KPIs)
- Responsible for developing and maintaining the EHS management system standards and for managing the EHS technical standards development process with the objective of managing risk and driving continual improvement
- Overall business owner of enterprise-wide EHS data and digital systems - coordinating input from across Takeda for the use and optimization of existing tools as well as identifying and addressing unmet needs. Working with the various stakeholder teams to ensure change management and training is effective.
- Provides network coordination and business decision support to ensure that the priorities of the various Operating Units, Global Functions and Business Units are managed effectively and the EHS team is operating as optimal as possible focusing on critical risks, compliance and advancing the Takeda EHS strategic objectives
- Responsible for Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement (eAGILE) for the EHS function, ensures that EHS processes are lean and effective, and provides EHS input into the eAGILE program to amplify impact
- Oversees EHS project management - establishes governance processes to ensure projects and programs are managed effectively and efficiently across the corporate EHS team and progress is communicated across the company as required
- Leads corporate EHS budget planning and tracking at the direction of the Global Head of EHS
- Overall accountability for effective EHS audit program
- Serves as a role model for Takeda-ism, the Leadership Behaviors, and the 4 commitments (PTRB) in everything that is done

- Works with various teams across the company, including within Global Manufacturing and Supply, Global Corporate Affairs, HR, Finance, Legal, R&D, Business Units, and Data, Digital and Technology
- Participates in various external forums on Takeda's behalf such as the Pharmaceutical Safety Group, National Association of Environmental Managers, Organization Research Council, EHS Round Table, Business Social Responsibility, etc.
Innovation:
- Brings the latest EHS data and digital tools into the company and implement them in an effective and efficient manner in cooperation with the Data, Digital and Technology department. Ensure that the EHS Management system remains current, reflecting changes in the ISO standards and industry best practices.
Complexity:
- Must be able to work in a complex network, managing priorities from site, network and corporate teams.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Degree in life sciences, engineering, chemical engineering or similar field; 15+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, or associated industry; previous experience leading teams across multiple locations; experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, regulatory agencies and vendors; previous experience in program management and demonstrated application of health and safety practices
- Industry certifications desired (i.e. Chartered Engineer, Certified Safety Professional, Chartered Safety Professional, etc.). Developing and leading global programs.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$208,200.00 - $327,140.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
