COMPENSATION:- Coaching stipend per Collective Bargaining Agreement for current employees
- Coaching stipend of $5,187 per season for walk-on coaches
DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Principal or their designee, responsible for coaching a varsity team and performing related duties as required. For the school year, note the following:
- Managing lower level teams, staff, and logistics
- Responsible for supervision and conduct of players and staff
- Responsible for fundraising as needed
- Game day field/court preparation as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):- At least two years of experience as a varsity coach at the high school level in the specific sport for which applying OR at least two years experience as an NCAA or Professional player in the specific sport for which applying
- Ability to explain, demonstrate, and analyze fundamental skills and strategies
- Ability to meet all CIF Coaching requirements and certifications
- Ability to communicate with and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders
- Knowledge of CIF Rules and Regulations pertaining to the sport applying
- Ability to manage online applications necessary to oversee Athletic Team (Google Sheets/Drive, Home Campus, MaxPreps, etc.)
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION(S):- At least four years of experience as a varsity head coach at the high school, college, or professional level
- Winning percentage of at least 50% in season and playoffs as a head coach
- Knowledge of NCAA Clearinghouse Requirements
- Experience as a college or professional athlete
- Demonstrated success with booster clubs and fundraising
- Demonstrated success with the development of a team with high academic achievement

Head Coach
Job Description Job Summary: The Head Coach is responsible for various aspects of the program, such as recruiting within the school, scheduling opponents (in conjunction with the Athletic Director), training, and coaching team members. The Head Coach is required to abide by the CIF rules and regulations as well as the rules and regulations set by the Centinela Valley Union High School District and the athletic administration.

Essential Responsibilities: - Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Prepare field/courts on Game Day and manage logistics for all lower level competitions
- Check and respond to Centinela Outlook email on a regular basis
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes.
- Coordinate the development and promotion of the specific Program.
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
- Ensure all coaches work together toward a common goal within the program and provide unity within all levels of the program.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
- Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Hold a preseason meeting with all student-athletes and parents before the first official game.
- Assess players' skills and assign team positions.
- Determine game strategy based on the team's capabilities.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times (coaches and athletes)
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities, including protecting students from hazing/bullying.
- Maintain and secure all equipment and uniforms.
- Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all athletic equipment.
- Communicating with the Athletic Director to ensure compliance with all pertinent CIF regulations, including eligibility forms, transfer forms, and grade reports.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Assist student athletes with college recruitment.
- Assist the Athletic Director with the scheduling of games and coordinate arrangements.
- Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media, and other organizations.
- Participate in special activities to include senior night, banquets, award nights and pep assemblies.
- Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding athletic performance of their student.
- Coordinate with the ATC and established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
- Represent the Centinela Valley Union High School District and program in a professional manner.
- Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.
- Recommend, advocate, and attend all league, all area, and other award nominations.

- Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount. Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of NFHS and CIF rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes.
