SUMMARY
ROHM Semiconductor USA is seeking an energetic and motivated new graduate as a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Engineer. HDD engineering involves a multidisciplinary approach, combining mechanical, electrical, material, and control engineering principles to develop reliable and high-performance data storage devices. This position is in Longmont, Colorado with on-the-job training in Orange County, California. As a condition of employment, the qualified individual is expected to live in Orange County and work in our Orange County office for the first 6-9 months for training with the team. Living expense assistance in Orange County to be determined. No living expense assistance in Longmont, Colorado. This is an on-site position 5 days per week.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily to include but not limited to:
- Electronic bench testing of a silicon device to verify functionality, performance, and compliance with electrical specifications
- On-site engineering support at customer's site working directly with customer's hardware and firmware teams
- Support for system integration of silicon device with different product lines per customer application requirements
- Design review meetings with customer and silicon design team
- Investigative analysis of design issues reported by customers and/or requested by the silicon design team
- Failure analysis, failure reproduction, root cause analysis, and report generation
- Complete assignments per customer and silicon design team schedules
- Building and maintaining relationships with customer's engineering teams
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or similar technical discipline
- 0-2 years of working experience in semiconductor, electronics, electrical engineering environments
Skills:
- Electronics laboratory experience
- Use Oscilloscope, multimeter, power supply, function generator
- Lab instrument communication and automation
- Lab equipment asset tracking
- Solder and rework of printed circuit board assemblies
- Practical experience with PCB schematics and layouts
- Simulation tools (Example: LTSpice, SPICE)
- Programming experience (Example: C or Python)
- Multitasking and time management
- Strong to advance computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint)
- Attention to detail
- Analytical skills
- Effective communication skills, verbal, written and listen. Daily in-person interaction with customers is expected.
