Description This position provides direct supervision, quality instruction, and a safe and supportive environment for children in gymnastics classes. You will create a positive, nurturing relationship with the children, while building cooperative relationships with the parents and caregivers. You will promote and support the potential of all youth in programs and you will facilitate peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall program experience.
Essential Functions:
- Instructs energizing, fun, and safe gymnastics lessons, having prepared lesson plans.
- Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Models and instills the Y Core Values of Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment and low supplies.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for a period of time dictated by the duration of your shift.
- Ability to instruct, observe and spot participants in proper gymnastic techniques.
- Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child
Requirements- At least 15 years old
- 6 months experience working with youth
Within 30 days of hire:
- CPR/FA Certification for Adult, Child and Infant
