The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for educating and leading members in group fitness classes. Have a focus towards assisting members in achieving their fitness goals in a safe and friendly manner. You will provide personal attention and professional instruction reflecting the most current information in the industry.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  1. Ensure a safe, energetic and appropriately structured class format and demonstrate warm-ups
  2. Provide time before and after class to ensure members' needs are met and answer questions
  3. Available to assist other instructors by subbing classes and follow procedure for securing substitutes
  4. Regularly add variety to class by changing music, routine, exercises, etc.
  5. Offer modifications to meet physical abilities and limitations
  6. Attend mandatory quarterly, departmental, or other required meetings
  7. Maintain current group fitness certifications for class formats taught
  8. Assist by helping maintain a clean safe facility in the Group Exercise rooms at all times
Qualifications
  1. PC literate, including Microsoft Office and various other products
  2. Experience as a group exercise class instructor, preferred
  3. Preferred one of the following valid National Certification (ACE, AFAA, ASCM, AEA, NSCA, etc.)
  4. A minimum of the following Certifications (Les Mills, SilverSneakers, Zumba, Aqua, Cycling, Pilates, 200 hour yoga, Small Group training or any other Group Exercise format).
  5. Must have a valid CPR/AED certification, including infant and child, on your first day of employment working for pay and maintain valid certification throughout employment
Physical Requirements
  1. Must be able to safely perform rigorous physical activity to meet the demands of class objectives
  2. Must be able to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
  3. Must be able to perform the following tasks: walking, squatting, bending, stooping, standing, listening, speaking, reading and writing
