Position Summary Are you someone who's passionate about fitness, loves to teach and train people, and enjoys group classes and a strong sense of community? If so, this may be a perfect role for you. We are currently hiring for multiple fitness instructors tolead classes in Frontier Park (Graham) and/or Cross Park (Tacoma/Fredrickson). How to be Successful in this Role As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will play a key role in creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels encouraged to participate. The best part about this job is that you get to bring your personal areas of expertise and use your own particular style as you design and lead engaging fitness classes for people of various ages and fitness levels. Your ability to inspire, motivate, and foster a positive and safe environment for all participants will guide your success. You need to be someone who not only loves fitness but enjoys sharing that passion with others.
Duties include: - Create and design exercise programs that are safe, effective, and appropriate for members of varying fitness levels, abilities, and interests
- Plan, prepare, implement, and lead group fitness classes
- Instruct scheduled classes, beginning, and ending on time; provide adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching and cool down
- Teach correct exercise methods, provide explanation through demonstration, and employ proper cueing and spotting techniques
- Prepare appropriate equipment and music (if applicable) for each class
- Work varying shifts depending on programming schedules
- Participate in staff meetings/trainings and attend operational meetings as instructed
- Ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met
- Encourage class member referrals to help grow participation
- Providing outstanding customer service
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:- Knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, and safe exercise techniques
- Ability to adapt programs to various fitness levels and abilities
- Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
Qualifications Qualifications: - Must be 18 years of age or older
- Recognized fitness certification (e.g., NASM, NSCA, ACSM, Equivalent)
- Must have First Aid & CPR certification within 30 days of starting
- As a part of the interview process, candidates will be required to submit a video demonstrating their work as a fitness instructor
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in a parks and recreation department/setting
- Two years of experience instructing group trainings
