Principal Responsibilities: Katz JCC group fitness instructors are responsible for providing personalized attention and professional group exercise instruction through monitoring all members during each fitness class. Each instructor must possess qualifications and experience necessary to teach and demonstrate proper technique and form for each group exercise class.
Minimum Qualifications: Hours: Early mornings hours 4:45AM - 8:30AM and weekends.
Job Responsibilities:
- JCC group fitness instructors will be punctual beginning and ending all classes on time.
- Provide group fitness instruction in a safe, enthusiastic and professional manner.
- Maintain ongoing communication with members-high level of customer service
- Maintain Current CPR/AED/First Aide Certification
- Maintain Current Group Exercise Certification relative to the type of class being instructed.
- Maintain a safe well-rounded environment for all of the participants in the Group Exercise Studios.
- Ability to work well with other JCC Staff members as part of the Group Exercise Team working toward a common goal to serve members.
- Responsible for acquiring substitute instructors for your own previously scheduled classes on a daily basis.
- Must participate in scheduled staff meetings/training and development. This includes the assistance with special events or programs as needed. (Zumbathon, Spinathon, Yogathon)
- Must understand and be able to administer emergency procedures such as evacuation and fire alarms.
- Report unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning of equipment.
- JCC Group Fitness staff should be knowledgeable about our agency and be able to respond appropriately with accurate information. Announcements supplied for special events should occur before every class to promote all activities, events, training programs and services in an enthusiastic and professional manner.
- Instructors are responsible for signing in through hand scan and sign in sheet for every class. Number of participants are recorded for every group exercise class.
- Inappropriate conversations, foul language should be avoided.
- Report all Group Exercise studio matters to the Assistant Fitness Director/Group Exercise Coordinator.
- Additional responsibilities may be added based upon the need of the Health & Fitness Department of the Katz JCC
Required Experience:
A minimum of 6 months prior experience as a Group Fitness Instructor
Current CPR/AED/First Aide Certification
Current ACE, AFAA, AAAI, Zumba, Body Pump, or Schwin Spin Certifications and continuing education credits related to the type of class being instructed.
Salary: $25,000 - $35,000
