JOB TITLE: Graphic Design and Newsletter Assistant DEPARTMENT AND LOCATION OF JOB: Communications and Marketing, Institutional Advancement, Blake Hall, FVCC Kalispell Campus ELIGIBILITY: Students must be Work Study Eligible (as determined by Financial Aid) START DATE: This position will start Fall Semester 2024 LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: Academic Calendar Year 2024/2025 PAY RANGE: $14.00 to $15.00 per hour WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible schedule between Monday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but may work occasional evenings and weekends to assist with events; may work up to 19 hours per week. DRESS CODE: Casual wear with appropriate coverage POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE: Supports the Lead Graphic Designer in creating newsletter and media screen content, poster creation and photography, as needed. POSITION DUTIES: Assists in creating content for newsletters, media screens, privy press and posters Assists in the creation of event support materials like posters, menus and signage. Assists in the organization and layout of 2 weekly digital newsletters and a weekly printed news flyers Reports to the Executive Director, College Relations, Communications, and Marketing, or Designee. And other duties as needed MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester, and Ability to ensure and maintain confidentiality, and Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Docs to accurately perform word processing, data entry and emailing tasks, and organizing, and Knowledge of Canva and/or Adobe Create Suite, and Ability to use office technology skills, and ability and willingness to learn new programs, and Ability to provide quality customer service and interact in a pleasant and professional manner with students, staff, faculty, donors and the public, and Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with peers, supervisors, students, donors, and the public, and Ability to work independently with a minimal level of supervision as well as in a team environment, and Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated, and Possess good organizational skills and attention to detail, and Ability to follow directions and procedures, and Possesses a cooperative spirit in working with peers, supervisors, students, donors, and the public. STUDENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT: Writing, graphic design, communication, critical thinking, effective reasoning, professionalism, customer service PREDICTED OUTCOME: Examples of work that can be used in a portfolio STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES: Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment. Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester. Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media. Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule, effective communication/interpersonal skills, and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
