Grants and Resource Development Specialist

Summary
Under the general supervision of the Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Grants and Development Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the resource development plan for the organization to secure external funding from public and private sources. The Specialist is directly responsible for writing all grant proposals, gathering data, and facilitating teams across all departments during the grants development process to ensure that the proposals are completed and submitted within the required timeframe. The Specialist shall also assist in the implementation of any projects that continue to develop and expand the work of the grants and development department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and write, need statements, letters of interest, proposals, and grant applications for submission through web-based portals, email and mail.
  • Research, compile, and analyze data, and identify trends and best practices in affordable housing that support grant proposals.
  • Ability to present compiled data in a variety of formats such as graphs, maps, charts, illustrations, tables, diagrams, flow charts, plain text and other formats as needed.
  • Facilitate the work of grant project development teams across departments and external partners (as applicable) in the completion of grant proposals.
  • Participate in key external meetings in representation of AHSTI and in support of affordable housing opportunities for the community.
  • Develop a resource development plan that provides a schedule of grant opportunities.
  • Implement the development plan by building relationships with funders and executing solid grant applications.
  • Manage the resource development plan by following up with applications that are funded and not funded.
  • Ensure that appropriate communication and reporting is maintained with all funding sources.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Assist in development and implementation of project tracking strategies and tools.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Assist in the development of and the monitoring of the organization's Strategic Plan.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in English, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience of successful grant writing or equivalent.
  • Valid, current, and non-restricted driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Working knowledge of database software and Encompass Mortgage Software, Internet software, accounting software, spreadsheet software and word processing software.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While carrying out job duties, the employee must regularly communicate verbally and listen. Additionally, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use their hands for tasks such as handling or manipulating objects, and reach with their hands and arms.

Expected Work Hours
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the organization's core work hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additionally, the employee is required to participate in rotations, which include staying until 6:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays and working on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A minimum of 40 hours per week is expected.

Travel
This position may require occasional travel outside the area for training.
