The Auto Body Shop Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the dealership's Body shop operations. This includes ensuring that it meets its short and long-range objectives, creating and implementing action plans, and contributing to the dealerships goals. Typical Hours and Days

Body Department is open Monday - Friday 7:30am to 5pm. Management team members typically work 50 or more hours per week and are expected to work as needed and are compensated as Exempt Level employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the Body Shop

• Forecast and set monthly/annual sales goals objectives for the Body shop.

• Determine and monitor staffing levels, compensation levels, and department turnover.

• Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all service department staff

• Establish & maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat referral business.

• Maintain highest possible standards of workmanship; advise technicians of dealership CSI on a regular basis.

• Meet with the general manager at least once a month to review current shop performance, set future performance objectives, promotional actives, or any other critical matters.

• Plan and execute an ongoing Body shop advertising program.

• Ensure that all the necessary shop equipment is in proper and safe working condition.

• Ensure that the work areas and customer waiting areas are kept clean and free of safety hazards.

• Ensure the Body Shop designated parking areas are organized, properly maintained, and secure.

• Represent the dealership in cases of emergency involving the Body shop or as directed by dealership management.

• Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with, federal, state and local regulations that affect service & parts operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc

• Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Company's Vision, Mission, and Values in all interactions with customer, co-workers, and suppliers.

• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

• Develop standards of customer treatment and enforce their use; devise special processes for handling comebacks.

• Serve as liaison with factory representatives.

• Understand the manufacturers' warranty policy and procedures.

• Attend training classes as directed by management.

• Enforce factory policy and procedures.

• Work with parts department as appropriate to ensure proper stocking of high use parts.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:

• Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and read and understand computers.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

• Must meet company's requirements for employment.

• Three to five years of experience in an auto repair facility

• Two or more years of supervisory experience

• Demonstrated verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Valid Driver's License, acceptable driving record and at least 18 years of age required to drive company or customer vehicles.

Supervision:

The Body Shop manager oversees the day-to-day supervision of the following positions: Auto Body Tech's and Auto Body Estimators.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles; frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration; and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
