A respected legal services provider is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Grants & Compliance Clerk to support the organization's legal and regulatory funding obligations. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role serves as a key administrative and compliance resource, ensuring accurate documentation, tracking, and reporting of grants and funding sources in accordance with internal protocols and external regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational and communication skills, a compliance-minded approach, and a collaborative spirit to a role that directly supports the legal and operational integrity of the client's grant-funded work.


Key Responsibilities:

A. Compliance & Documentation Oversight

  • Maintain records and logs of all grant applications, contracts, funding deadlines, and reporting obligations in coordination with legal and administrative teams.
  • Support legal review and submission processes for grant proposals, amendments, and funder agreements.

B. Data Management & Legal Support

  • Enter and maintain accurate data in internal systems to reflect grant compliance metrics, reporting timelines, and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure documentation associated with funder requirements is legally sound, timely, and complete.

C. Internal Coordination & Reporting

  • Assist in drafting and compiling reports required by funders, including legal certifications, impact narratives, and programmatic updates.
  • Coordinate with legal, finance, HR, and program teams to gather information needed for audits, compliance checks, and site visits.

D. Legal Research & Funding Analysis

  • Support research into potential government and private funding sources aligned with the client's mission.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of legal requirements tied to nonprofit and public funding streams.

E. Administrative & Legal Department Support

  • Provide calendar management, document preparation, and administrative support to the Legal and Grants teams.
  • Assist in organizing meetings with external funders, including compliance briefings, site visits, and audit preparations.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of the client.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; coursework in legal studies, public administration, or compliance is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with legal or grants management software a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Prior experience in legal aid, nonprofit administration, or grant compliance is strongly preferred.
