A well established Non-Profit organization based in New York City is seeking a strategic Grants Accounting Manager to oversee the portfolio of Federal, State, and City Grants, ensuring compliance, timely submissions, and effective communication with funders and program managers.
Position Summary:
The Grants Accounting Manager is responsible for the financial administration of grants and contracts, including budgeting, compliance, reporting, and audit support. This position ensures that all grant-related financial activity is accurate, timely, and aligned with federal, state, and private funding requirements.
The Grants Manager will have a voice with Senior Leadership and implement best practices and procedures for the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full lifecycle of grant accounting, including pre-award budget development, post-award financial tracking, and close-out procedures.
- Ensure compliance with grantor requirements, GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and internal policies.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports to funders.
- Collaborate with program managers and development staff to monitor spending and ensure alignment with grant budgets.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation for all grants and contracts.
- Manage audits and site visits related to grant funding, preparing schedules and responding to inquiries as needed.
- Lead monthly reconciliation of grant expenditures and revenue.
- Train and support staff on grant compliance and financial procedures.
- Supervise grants accounting staff (if applicable) and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a non-profit organization specifically in the areas of general accounting, compliance, and grant accounting.
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles, including reporting requirements and procedures related to federal grants and OMB Circulars A-122 and A-133.
- Experience managing compliance with federal government grants and contracts in accordance with CFRs.
- Proficient knowledge of Fund E-Z and Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
