Job Title: Grant Accountant to Long-Term Recovery Group
Reports to: Director of Finance
Location: Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. Lee County - Fort Myers office

Overview:

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. provides services to people of all races, backgrounds and beliefs. We offer a variety of housing and social service programs to individuals, families and communities across ten counties in Southwest Florida. The Financial Grant Accountant will be responsible for fiscal and administrative functions of all organization grants and contracts. Works closely with the Chief Operating officer in order to develop, execute and maintain contractual obligations of Federal and State grants.

The Grants Accountant will support the financial integrity of the Lee County Long-term Recovery Group by effectively establishing and maintaining accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Review financial statements for reasonable content and form
  • Maintain a system of financial accounting, reporting, and record keeping in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
  • Assist the LTRG Director and Grants Manager with pre-award budget development and perform post-award budget revision reporting for grants
  • Ensure budgetary control and post-award compliance with federal, state, local, and funder regulations
  • Process client-related accounts payable and reconciliation processes for local staff
  • Handle invoicing and reconciliation processes related to drawdowns from funding agencies
  • Monitor grant activity, including cost overruns, cost-sharing, and unallowable administrative expenses
  • Reconcile and prepare monthly and quarterly financial grant reports according to generally accepted accounting procedures
  • Prepare and maintain reimbursement expenditure reports for grants and reconcile monthly grant reports to funds received
  • Maintain monthly performance and accountability for current and pending federal, state, local, foundation, and private grants
  • Assist the LTRG Director and Finance Team with Grant Monitoring and Grant Audits
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, and outside contacts to provide financial and accounting information and support as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of internal control requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including project and committee work

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3 years of experience working in an accounting role, with a minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in grant accounting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements
  • Proven ability to manage financial workflow in a complex, high-volume environment and maintain strong attention to detail
  • Solid organizational, time management, and data management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks under pressure
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
  • Familiarity with federal, state, local, foundation, and private grant regulations, as well as grant monitoring and audit processes
