Job DescriptionJob Summary Are you a prospective graduate student looking to apply for MS Biology (thesis) at TAMIU?
The TAMIU Department of Biology & Chemistry is seeking a highly motivated research-oriented individual for NSF grant-funded Graduate Research Assistant (a part-time) position. We are seeking a skillful and passionate MS graduate in Biology major who is looking to learn and obtain more hands-on research experience in biomedical research.
We are using basic and advanced microbiological and molecular biology research tools to study morphological and physiological adaptations in the pathogenic yeast, Candida albicans, and other yeast model organisms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Research and collect data through complex techniques and procedures.
- Assist with data management and perform basic statistical analyses.
- Develop assessment and evaluation tools.
- Perform experiments and data analysis.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities- Participation in regional-level scientific conferences and publication/s in peer-review journals upon successful completion of assigned project/s.
Minimum Requirements - Enrolled at least half-time, 3 credit hours per semester in TAMIU's MS program.
- Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 3.0.
- Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
Preferred Experience and Education - Education- A GPA above 3.0 from the BS degree and
- Experience - Undergraduate research assistant.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.
- Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
- Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

- Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.
- Promptly complete all required training.
- Submit time sheet biweekly.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- Subject to funding and/or need.
Salary $18.50 and hour for up to 19 hours week
