Position Summary
To ensure that the guests are given prompt, courteous service at the sales and concession counters, on the telephone, and on the course. Anticipates and fulfills customer needs in a variety of responsibilities as assigned, which may include work in the clubhouse, starting and/or course play (Marshall). Reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.
We are looking to fill a couple PT Summer Seasonal Positions at Centerbrook Golf Course.
Examples of Duties
General Counter
  • Greet patrons, answer questions and provide directions for customers.
  • Operates cash register according to Centerbrook policies.
  • When requested, issues receipts for all patrons greens fees and carts.
  • Sell concessions and merchandise items as necessary.
  • Assist in the task of opening and closing the club house.
  • Assist in golf tournament/outing activities.
  • Assist in completing the daily report sheets and finalizing the work day.
  • Cleans and maintains course facilities, including restrooms.
  • Assist with stocking and displaying inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned or apparent.
Marshall
  • Greet patrons, answer questions and provide directions for customers.
  • Reviews a list of golf course rules.
  • Patrols golf course property for the purpose of directing players in the proper pace of play and the observance of course rules and regulations.
  • Informs patrons of any unusual conditions that exist on the course.
  • Report golf course play status to the clubhouse staff at regular intervals.
  • Repair ball marks and fix divots as needed.
  • Sell concessions on the course.
  • Assists with stocking vending machines.
  • Inspects/maintains portable restrooms.
  • Assists in clubhouse as needed.
  • Moves and cleans golf carts as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Customer service experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Basic Golf Understanding.
  • First Aid and CPR Certified
  • Experience operating a cash register/cash handling.

Supplemental Information
Communications: Must have the ability to actively listen to others for understanding of their needs and situation; ability to speak and write English clearly. Must be able to assertively control conversations in order to quickly and accurately gather pertinent information and be able to communicate this information professionally and precisely to the proper recipient. Must have good communication skills both in person and over the telephone. Works to provide effective internal and external customer service practices for all Centerbrook activities.

Decision Making: Must act in a decisive manner, using good judgment. Must be able to assess problems and situations, able to anticipate needs and evaluate alternatives. Must be able to effectively interpret the policies and objectives of the department.

Must represent Centerbrook Golf Course with the highest standard.

Must represent the organization to other agencies staff and citizens with a courteous, helpful, accurate and business-like attitude in all telephone and personal contact.

Quality of Work: Must be able to organize tee times and direct golfers accurately. Must be able to detect and correct errors. Must be able to utilize work time properly and productively. Must be able to give accurate change do basic mathematics.

Technical Knowledge: Must have knowledge of the operations of golf. Must have knowledge of the Centerbrook Golf Course policies and procedures. Must have ability to learn our regular and special group Tee Time procedure. Must have the ability to operate a gas driven four wheel cart. Must have the ability to perform basic mathematics. Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one.

Physical Abilities: Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media. Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work under pressure. Must maintain a neat appearance. Must be able to up to 25 lbs. regularly; up to 50 lbs. occasionally and to lift overhead and push/pull. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
