Position Summary
OVERVIEW The Glatfelter Institute Graduate Scholar will work with the staff at the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) to help collect, analyze, and disseminate high-quality community data. This staff position allows the Graduate Scholar the opportunity to hone their research skills and garner experience-all the while working to create a more informed data landscape for York's leaders.
Essential Functions
- Successfully complete coursework associated with earning an MPPA degree
- Provide research assistance and output as assigned by the Director of the Glatfelter Institute for Public Policy
- Develop relationships with key partners in the York region, including both governmental and non-governmental leaders, that align work with the College's and York's priorities
- Willingness to collaborate with other CCE staff on program projects and needs
- Stay informed about trends and best practices in public policy and community engagement to bring innovative ideas and approaches to the role
- Support and advance the mission of the Glatfelter Institute, and provide administrative and logistical support for CCE initiatives
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of research activities, meetings, and community interactions
- Meet with Center for Community Engagement staff to discuss projects and program progression
Experience and Education Required
To be hired for this position applicants must:
Be accepted into an eligible YCP graduate program that starts in summer 2025 or fall 2025.Required Skills and Qualifications
- Attend all required events and training, as permitted by the Graduate Scholar's academic schedule.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive or confidential student records.
- Complete all documents and processes required for employment at York College.
- Maintain full-time status and maintain good academic standing as a graduate student at York College of Pennsylvania.
- Uphold the mission and core values of the Center for Community Engagement.
- Abide by all policies and expectations applicable to employees and students of York College of Pennsylvania.
