SUMMARY Charlotte Water's GIS group is seeking a motivated GIS professional for the GIS Coordinator position. The GIS Group provides full-scale GIS solutions and support to the entire Utility utilizing web, mobile, and desktop applications. CLT Water is one of the largest public water and sewer service providers in the Southeast. We value competent, skilled candidates with a service focus and a desire to work in a team environment.
Salary: $86,976 - $96,640.50 - Commensurate with experience ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Plans, creates, and executes custom GIS solutions for customers using complex spatial analysis, robust reporting, and integrated web maps and applications
- Gathers business requirements from stakeholders to develop solutions to meet customer needs
- Creates and maintains various datasets for integration into and consumption by a wide variety of applications
- Recommends technology solutions, integrates customer requirements, and identifies opportunities to improve processes
- Utilizes scripting and modeling for process and workflow automation
- Establishes procedures to eliminate redundant processes
- Contributes to GIS application development, maintenance, and ongoing support of software and hardware solutions
- Improves and maintains data quality through querying, editing, and application development
- Performs high-quality edits in a Water and/or Wastewater Utility Network
- Researches and develops new GIS related products and procedures
- Performs database schema review and recommends improvements
- Provides technical expertise toward the day-to-day operation of the GIS Editor team
- Occasionally coordinates work activities of the GIS Editor team
- Understands principles of project and data management
- Serves as a subject matter expert for end-users
- Provides general support and training
- Performs other related job duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Seven (7) years of experience in geospatial analysis, including prior experience with ESRI's ArcGIS Application suite
OR
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in GIS Systems or a related field
- Five (5) years of experience in geospatial analysis, including prior experience with ESRI's ArcGIS Application suite
OR
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in GIS Systems or a related field
- Three (3) years of experience in geospatial analysis, including prior experience with ESRI's ArcGIS Application suite
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: - Requires valid driver's license.
COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES Knowledge of: - Geodatabase structure
- Data management and data analytics
- ESRI's ArcGIS Application suite (specifically ArcGIS Pro 3.x)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT The City's Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte.
