Salary Range:
GIS Analyst I (B18): $60,000.00 - $71,055.00/annually
$5,000.00 - $5,921.25/monthly
GIS Analyst II (B20): $66,000.00 - $81,351.00/annually
$5,500.00 - $6,779.25/monthly
GIS Analyst III (B22): $73,200.00 - $93,138.00/annually
$6,100.00 - $7,761.50.00/monthly

Position Description
GIS Analyst I
Performs geographic information systems (GIS) data development, integration and analysis, produces maps and graphics, and extracts, analyzes and reports data. Provides technical assistance and support of transportation related activities or projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
GIS Analyst II
Performs complex geographic information systems (GIS) data development, integration and analysis, produces maps and graphics, and extracts, analyzes and reports data. Provides technical assistance and support of transportation related activities or projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
GIS Analyst III
Performs advanced geographic information systems (GIS) data development, integration and analysis, produces maps and graphics, and extracts, analyzes and reports data. Provides technical assistance and support of transportation activities or projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties:
GIS Analyst I
• Collects global positioning system (GPS) data and converts GPS data into GIS datasets.
• Collects, prepares, digitizes and codes spatial data into GIS format.
• Conducts mapping research to ensure accurate use of data and resolve conflicting information.
• Creates, maintains and updates GIS databases and cartographic products using the ESRI suite of ArcGIS software.
• Digitizes and maintains roadway line work and attributes, base map layers, and administrative polygon boundaries.
• Researches new software and/or techniques for improving performance or processes.
• Digitizes parcels polygons from deed records using ArcGIS COGO and maintains parcel fabric or land information systems.
• Georeferences scanned paper maps for feature extraction.
• Converts CAD and other map formats into ArcGIS formats.
• Generates reports and produces graphic products.
• Interprets source documents, such as engineering plans, plot maps and legal descriptions.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. GIS Analyst II
• Utilizes ArcGIS Online to create and maintain feature services and web mapping applications.
• Reviews geographic data from various sources, including other state agencies, aerial imagery, existing maps, and databases.
• Collects global positioning system (GPS) data and converts GPS data into GIS datasets.
• Collects, prepares, digitizes and codes spatial data into GIS format.
• Conducts mapping research to ensure accurate use of data and resolve conflicting information.
• Creates and maintains cartographic products using ArcGIS.
• Creates, maintains and updates GIS databases and cartographic products using the ESRI suite of ArcGIS software.
• Digitizes and maintains roadway line work and attributes, base map layers, and administrative polygon boundaries.
• Digitizes parcels polygons from deed records using ArcGIS COGO and maintains parcel fabric or land information systems.
• Converts CAD and other map formats into ArcGIS formats.
• Generates reports and produces graphic products.

• Develops and maintains links between attributes and other databases.
• Develops custom tools and applications using Python, HTML/JavaScript/CSS, SQL and/or other coding languages.
• Digitizes and maintains roadway line work and attributes, base map layers, and administrative polygon boundaries.
• Digitizes parcels polygons from deed records using ArcGIS COGO and maintains parcel fabric or land information systems.
• Converts CAD and other map formats into ArcGIS formats.
• Utilizes ArcGIS Online to create and maintain feature services and web mapping applications.
• Reviews geographic data from various sources, including other state agencies, aerial imagery, existing maps, and databases.
• Generates reports and produces graphic products.

Education: GIS Analyst I, II or III : Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis . Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
GIS Analyst I: No experience required.
GIS Analyst II: 1 YEAR Using Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) products in cartographic production, GIS or GPS analysis
(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part time equivalent)
GIS Analyst III: 2 YEARS Using Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) products in cartographic production, GIS or GPS analysis (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part time equivalent)
Licenses and Certifications : US Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
